My Martha Experience

I am back. Sadly. I had an amazing time in NYC and feel like there is a lot to share. My beginning of my first official day was spent first with Martha Stewart. Well not "with her" but sitting in the audience at her show. It was a fun experience to see how that world works. We got some great gifts including a Rowenta DZ5080 Focus Stainless-Steel 1700-Watt Iron, a gift certificate to Jo Ann Fabrics, gardening gloves and sheers. We laughed, my friend cried and we got to see two guests, Joan River, who was HILARIOUS and Emma Thompson! If you ever get the chance to go, I would suggest it. WOAH!!

I realize Craft already talked about this amazing floor mat but it's just too cool not to mention again.  Plus I like to have things here for reference as I wouldn't mind trying something like this one day...I have a lot of felt scraps and this seems like a fun way to use them and something I could work on from time to time.  This one is amazing via Craft Dept (martha stewart)

Getting Ready

I am determined to enjoy the holidays this year. Working in retail, owning a retail shop, makes you have a love/hate relationship with the holidays. It's busy (love +1), you work all the time (hate +1), it's festive (love +1), you have no energy to participate in the festivities (hate +1), there are tons of craft shows (love +1), you have no time to make anything gifts b/c you want to do all the craft shows (hate +1). This year I have started early because I want to give gifts I am excited about giving and I want to have a relaxing holiday as much as possible. On my way to work I went to Barnes & Noble to check on Creature Crochet (yes I am a dork, thanks for asking). I checked out the magazine section and noticed that Martha Stewart's Holiday Sweets issue is out. I got one a few years ago for Christmas and I love it. It seriously has the best recipes for all year so I quickly picked up this one before I forgot to. I am starting to make my plans. I highly suggest this issue for anyone that loves baking.

I also noticed this magazine, Donna Hay Magazine - With Donna Hay Kids. There is an adult one too and even though I don't have kids, this one looked pretty awesome too. Very Martha

Inspiration brought to you by

The Crafts Dept. @ Martha Stewart. Not that I have the time to do this but I would love to have a book where I keep different stitches, craftiness, etc. This book looks like pure eye candy!

Mirror Mirror has these cute little Easter tree decorations. I didn't know there was an Easter tree but these would be cute for a lot of different things. I spotted my picture on her site too which was funny.

March is Button Month over at Craft Stylish. I want to put up a project to start promoting my new book, Button and Stitch: Supercute Ways to Use Your Button Stash. It's not out until the end of the year but I want to start promotion soon. This cute headband is the latest addition to tons of button projects shared daily.

I just sent a bunch of leather scraps to my friend Betsy but I wish I had seen this project first...I could have sent her an owl along with the scraps.

I really wish I had known about the candy shop, Papabubble the last time I was in NYC. I have no plans to visit anytime soon so hopefully I will remember by the next time I go. Just read about on Kayte's site. I love this photo. This candy reminds me of Friends with You

There are some great tutorials on Oh Fransson on various quilting topics. She makes beautiful quilts too so lot's of eye candy over there.

Look at this BEAUTIFUL embroidered envelope I found on Feeling Stitchy. Embroidered by Kajin. I really can't get over it.

Inspired?

I know this is dorky

But I almost peed in my pants when I saw that the show Forget Me-Not that I curated was mentioned on Martha Stewart's blog. I officially have outed myself for being a big dork but I love Martha!

Craft Ideas

It's Sunday. I have a short day at Schmancy and then I have a day off! I am looking for a fun project to do for my "weekend". I thought I would share some of them with you.

This cute Tooth Bear would make a great gift for those kids loosing teeth.

This Reversible Purse is really cute and perfect for the summer!

I am kind of obsessed with making some baby booties for some reason. These are super cute and look simple enough.

This is a perfect gift for the summer bbq's and picnics and it's so cute!

Lastly, this little kids dress is really adorable.

Etsy and Martha

I never really get to watch Martha Stewart. But I really wish I got to see the segment where Etsy founder, Rob Kalin got to sit down and chat the good word of Etsy. I guess you can watch the segment here but my computer is not letting me. Wah!!!

This is a short little video of him after the tapping talking about what he wore for the show.
