I love the Quit your day job series Etsy does.  I found this one really inspiring and informative.

This Thursday in Seattle

Now that it is public knowledge, I have become the President of Urban Craft Uprising.  It's such an honor to be apart of this amazing event and to be trusted enough to do a good job as the President.  Anyways, we are having an event this Thursday to support Etsy's efforts to get 18,000 Valentine's Day cards.  If you are in the area, please join us!  Information can be found here

My First Etsy Treasury

I made my first Etsy Treasury over the weekend.  Please check it out.  It was a lot of fun but a little time consuming as I hit the wrong button SEVERAL times and had to start over...again and again.  ERRRRR.  Anyways, check it out here.

Lost at Sea Opening Reception

It was finally the day to party down.  The opening of Lost at Sea was finally here and I couldn't have been happier with the turn out!  I met so many people I have talked with online for a long time now and saw some old friends.  It was excellent!

Such as the wonderful, Jennifer Strunge of Cotton Monster fame (left)!

And Jessica Marquez

And Becky Stern again!

And I got to meet the nicest ladies from Etsy including Danielle who will be making her way out to Seattle in August for the Conference of Creative Entrepreneurs!

Here are a few pics of the people and the show as well.  You can now check out all the work online and even make a purchase if you like :)  Visit it all here. To those that made it out, Thank You!

New York Times Article

The New York Times has a great article on turning your hobby into your full time job.  I especially liked this quote although I would change the Etsy to Schmancy.  Read it here

Etsy

I am going to try for this week to really make a go with etsy. This means I will be trying to update it every day with two new items. I bought some new shoes which I desperately needed so this is my way of paying for them. Please visit it here. Here is one of the items for today. I have been meaning to make a few items these days so this was my way to kinda play around with some ideas. I am sure someone has made silhouette animals, I just wanted to try this idea. I like the result.

Managing Thyself

I feel a bit lazy on the crafty side these days. I do believe that I can work hard but lately I just feel uninspired. I did a big clean up in my "craft room" (closet) which I thought was a good start to getting those crafty juices flowing. BUT I am still uninspired. I try to work on stuff but feel bored and this makes me sad.

How do you get those juices flowing when you aren't "into it"?

Here are a few things I found interesting.

A good article about Getting into the Zone found here

This does not fully apply but the sentiment is there

Good points

Things that do inspire me can also completely overwhelm me.

The Usual Suspects:

Craft. So many ideas but so little time.

Whip up

I really don't try to beat myself up too much about these times in my life where nothing is striking but I miss the excitement and adrenaline rush I get when I am creating something. I have been reading lately and that is nice and cooking still but yeah,I need to get in a zone soon because I really want to apply to this year's Bazaar Bizarre at the Maker Faire. Applications will be available starting on March 9th. I am really excited about this possibility, they do a great job!

Today I have been listening to a lot of Johnny Cash because today would have been his 77th birthday. He had an amazing career and was a beautiful song writer. I wonder how he got inspired? Either way, Happy Birthday Mr. Cash

Like Buttons?

I have a HUGE button collection. It's on the side of insanity. I have decided that I need to part with some. So I started making these pin cushion/button jars to try and depart with them in a fun way. Anyways, they are now on my site. Get one here! I am going to try and add a few a day or so.

Etsy and Martha

I never really get to watch Martha Stewart. But I really wish I got to see the segment where Etsy founder, Rob Kalin got to sit down and chat the good word of Etsy. I guess you can watch the segment here but my computer is not letting me. Wah!!!

This is a short little video of him after the tapping talking about what he wore for the show.
