Frustration
I dropped my cellphone in a large tub of water this morning. It's so annoying! I can get calls but can't make any. It's so weird. Well I guess not so weird considering I dropped it in a huge tub of water. Remember the days when you had to remember phone numbers and/or you had a phone book?? What a loss I am at now without a way to communicate. How lame!
Anywhooo
I found these super cute cellphone charms. This one here is super cute.
I love this fish
This guy is super cute too.

Book Club
By House of Mouse
One thing I have been trying to do more of is read. I am currently on a Haven Kimmel kick. Haven bought something off my site several months ago and I actually emailed her to ask her if she was "THE HAVEN KIMMEL"? She was. I told her how much I loved the book A Girl Named Zippy: Growing Up Small in Mooreland, Indiana. It's HILARIOUS! If I could have a kid like her I might not be so scared to have a kid. She said if I liked that one I would love She Got Up Off the Couch. She was right! I loved it! I would suggest starting with Zippy though. I am almost done with Something Rising (Light and Swift): A Novel. It's really beautifully written.
Here are some of the themes she deals with in her books.
Pool
Riding bikes
Living in a very small town
VW Bugs
And of course family
Any suggestions of what I should read next?

Here are a few of my favorite things
I am so so tired. I mean, I could fall asleep right here. Last night we had the Dunny Trading Party here at Schmancy. I think with all the books, administrative stuff for this store, You Bazaar!, etc. I am in a constant state of panic which makes one very sleepy. Tonight I plan on laying in my bed and watching a movie or something stupid. It sounds like heaven. So this is what I like right at the moment.
I love all the awesome trees being made. They are all different and beautiful in their own ways. This one is by Astulabee
These toys by Lorena Alvarez are awesome.
I can't wait to see these guys in person! By the uber talented Dawn Rammerman
This bunny by Rachaelrabbit is so cute!
Last for the day, this owl by Crayon Monster

Fluffels Interview and Giveaway!
Fluffels are sometimes fluffy, often times adorable, occasionally sinister lookin' little creatures by Mariska Vos-Bolman. Mariska will be showing once again at Schmancy for this year's Plush You show! I love these little guys and hope you do too. Leave a comment here for your chance to win your own Cute Kitty Kit. Don't forget to leave contact info so we can tell you you won!
S- In case our readers don't know who you are, can you please briefly describe what Fluffels are and how you got started?
F- Fluffels are crazy but very cute soft toys. I try to give my creations a lot of character that will put a smile on your face. The name Fluffels is a combination of the dutch word for soft toys: Knuffels and the word Fluffy. Two years ago I bought my first sewing machine, after looking scared at it for two weeks (I was sure I was going to hurt myself) I tried my first project, a pillow. Then I made a Soft toy and there was just no stopping. :)
S- In 2007 you quit your Video game job to be a full-time plush artist. What made you take the plunge?
F- I wasn't enjoying myself at my old job anymore. I was doing the same thing for years and was pretty bored, I was making soldiers all the time. The Company itself was great, wonderful people. But I really needed a change. I already started making plush and selling them to several shops around the world. Doing this was so much more fun for me that I thought I'd give it a try. I won't say it isn't hard. But I'm enjoying myself and It is going better every month.
S- How have you marketed yourself to reach new audiences?
F- Enter lots of plush shows :) . You have to do a lot of marketing. Sent your creations to blogs, make a Flickr page. Don't expect to just start selling without doing any marketing. Hand out your business card to anyone you know, they might know someone that can help you do a bit of marketing.

Craft Magazine Release Party
And you are invited!
Craft Magazine Release Party – Seattle!
Come play with us as Urban Craft Uprising hosts our very first CRAFT magazine release party! Join us Sunday, September 7th, 1 - 4pm, to celebrate. CRAFT 08 has a focus on weaving, so we'll be right at home at Stitches - your 'not just your typical fabric store' in Capitol Hill. We'll have free hands-on craft projects including paper looms from the mag and Kristen Rask from Schmancy will be there to teach us how to make button rings. Our own Moxie, of Made by Moxie, will demo her Felted Flower Flair Kit, also featured in the magazine.
When you add in the snacks, door prizes and the irresistible fashion fabrics, notions, and yarn at Stitches, you have a must-attend event on your hands! We hope you'll stop in, have some nibbles, and CRAFT with us.

Video Games
This past weekend was a video game convention in Seattle. I go in waves of playing video games more or less based on if I know someone with them. I know someone now and he must think I am scary. I love playing with his Wii and Exbox...that sounds dirty. sorry folks.
