Plush You 2008

Here it is

Every year after Plush You! begins I start to think about what I can do with it the next year to make it bigger and better. To make this show just that, next year we will be having 2 Plush You! shows. That's right folks, 2. The most exciting part is that the first one will be at Schmancy, etc. and then the second one will be at Double Punch Gallery in San Francisco!! I am super excited that the nice folks over at Double Punch wanted to host one in their city. I used to live in SF and love to visit and think that this is a perfect venue for Plush You!

To apply to take part in this amazing opportunity please send an email to plushyou2008@gmail.com.

Include your name, location, website and at least THREE images of your work. Please do all of the following. Especially the pictures. I am happy to get a link as well to your flickr but please follow these directions. I had a few people direct me to their sites, flickr, etc. last year and as much as that is nice, I look at these emails more than once and it is nice to have some pictures to quickly remind me of your work. I am going to be strict about this so please just follow these simple directions. You have time to really think about the best pictures to represent your work so take your time. There is no need to rush.

All "applications" will be due on Jan. 4th. We will take about a month (most likely) to look through all the emails and make our final decisions. You will then be notified if you have gotten in. Due to the size and interest in this show, we have a lot of applicants so please be patient.

If you are accepted please be aware that you will need to send NO MORE than three pieces for the October show in Seattle and then send NO MORE than three MORE to the November show at Double Punch. This means, in total you will be making no more than 6 pieces for the shows.

AS of now, the dates for the shows are not confirmed and the dates for your pieces being due is not confirmed.

Please also note that next year, due to double the work, I will also be VERY strict about getting your pieces in on time. I had many people send in items almost to the day of the opening and this simply can't happen. This is why I am planning ahead so far so that you have enough time to make some awesome pieces, feel good about them and get them in on time. I will also be very strict about the date for your getting your applications in.

You will also be responsible for checking this blog for information on the shows. I had a few people miss the boat this year because they thought I would be sending emails, etc. You have to understand that this is a HUGE show and LOT'S of work and you need to handle it like any group art show. You are given dates and information when you are accepted. I put reminders on this blog. I cannot stay on top of over 100 people and what they are doing. This is your responsibility. I don't mean to sound harsh so please don't take it that way. Just want to make that clear.

I am really excited about this and hope that you are all too. As this show grows and grows hopefully we can slowly take over the world with plush. It would be more soft at least :)

Leave a comment here and win a book. Drawing is on November 1st. You do not need to sign up for the plush show to participate in this giveaway

I am thrilled about the SF element of the next Plush You! This is just a one hour drive up the Pacific Coast Highway for me.

Before I apply I have one wee little question...Please let me know if I should direct this elsewhere: for the required 3 images, do they need to be of 3 different plushies, or 3 disparate types of plushies (i.e. a snail a bat and a bird, not two different colors of the same bird and a bat)?

It would be nice to see a variety of work for your application but not necessary if your "thing" is a particular thing. i hope that helps

The show sounds like a lot of fun! I think I'll try to make something special to enter... I'm new to making plush creatures, but I've been having a lot of fun with it so far. :)

Forgive me if this is a repeat--but not sure this new account is working. Great news about the shows! And count me in on the book giveaway!

Another newbie query--are the submitted photos simply representatives of our sofites or do they need to be the actual softies we'd want to send to the show? Thanks for the clarifications and the great site.

duh; I'm at

if you get a chance to reply.

thanks.

It should be a good representation of your work but does not have to be the actual pieces you would submit for the show. We just need an idea of the kind of work you do
