I totally spaced that my dear little Schmancy turned 4 yesterday. I know it's not like watching your kid turn 4 but it is still pretty crazy to me. Here is old Schmancy, 4 years ago during the hanging of the first Plush You! show.
It's funny to think that I now sit where Fancy used to be. I came into Fancy totally ghetto style trying to sell Sally my button rings on a pouring winter day. I was soaking wet, carrying my rings in a Bartell's bag (plastic drug store bag) and that started our relationship going. Sally was super outgoing and helpful AND bought a handful of rings. Lucky for me they sold well and I became a frequent visitor. So much so that I would hang out with Sally and bs for several hours on occasion. Then that space above opened up and I took a shot and opened store. And now here I am 4 years later hoping that our next President (Obama) makes a brighter future for us all and people feel more comfortable again to shop. Shop till ya' drop! Anyways, yeah I said it, Obama all the way baby!!
I want to say Thank You to everyone that has been a supporter of Schmancy, Plush You, crafters, artists, etc. I could truly never ever have made it this far without you.
Here are a few of my fondest memories to date:
1) The kindness of strangers. From offering advice on blogging, getting free website help, free photography, etc. It's hard to run your business alone and it's expensive. The kindness of strangers will always amaze me and gives me hope for humanity.
2) But the kindness of my friends and family will undoubtedly always be the most valuable, generous, appreciated thing ever. All of you will forever be in the warmest place of my heart...you keep it warm.
3) The friendships I have made along the way that perhaps started professional and became more personal. Including but not limited to: Dawn, Moxie, Coco, Lisa, Megan, people at Craft, Robert, Jenny, Anna, Heidi, Snaggs. The list could go on forever.
Again, Thank You.
