the first plush you ever made?
I remember making a dolphin in middle school although I know I made other little plush toys before. But this dolphin was big and I used a sewing machine and I just remember being really proud of myself. I kept it on my bed for a really long time.
Just thinking about it and thought I would ask you all. Comment here and let everyone know.

The first softie I ever made was a giraffe from an old pair of navy blue socks. I must have been about 7 or 8, and didn't know how to use a sewing machine, so I hand-sewed the whole thing. I gave it to my cousin for Christmas, but I don't know if it's still around or fell apart long ago.
I am 34 years old, and I just started sewing in the last couple of years. The first stuffed animal I made was Plucky from the Plush-O-Rama book, Curious Creatures for Immature Adults.
I was ten; it was a bright green brontosaurus dinosaur panel from the fabric store. I sewed it on the WWII era sewing machine my mom bought for $20 for me at a garage sale. The dinosaur had gussets so it could stand, and my mom kept waiting for me to come downstairs for help, but I figured it out on my own. It is still at my parent's house.
Our (me and my girlfriend) first plush was a little, bald and yellow monkey (see her here). This little one was done in 5 hours, hand mande, with a beatiful red heart inside.
Now, 4 months later, we are starting our own plush toy company: .marcamaria.
Our first plush change our lifes.
Thanks for this wonderful plush-blog! X)

I remember making a purple dinosaur from one of those patterns that are printed directly on the fabric. I was really young, I stitched the whole thing by hand because I hadn't learned to use a sewing machine yet.
I used to make small toys when I was small but my first plush was really made when I moved to California from Ohio. I kept saying I wanted to make a plush toy and finally bought some felt and made up a pattern and sewed it up. It was a kitty :D Since then I cannot stop. It is a crazy and fun obsession but I make toys a lot and love every second of it, the sewing, the stuffing, handstiching on details...
I love this blog and thank you for letting me be in Plush You I can't wait to come up to Seattle and visit your store! :D
Wow! Thanks for sharing all of these stories. It's fun to hear where and when people started making stuffed toys. And thank you so much for all the kind words about the blog and show, it really does mean a lot to me.
I was about eleven ( about 3 years ago) I had learned some hand stiching from girlscouts. I picked up a needle and thred and started to make any fun creatures i could think of, my friends loved them, my family loved them, everybody loved them so much i started to sell Pock-it Palz to a toy store in downtown chicago. Each with a little buddy in there pocket.
An orange corduroy cat--made in home economics class in 7th grade. I did a few hand repairs on some of my store-bought softies over the years, but nothing else hand-made until my elephant, Bakul. You can see her here:

The first plush I can remeber making was during summer vacation, and I missed my mom (cause I was away at Gramma's) and I stayed up all night making a little white duck from felt, with a googly eye, and a calico head scarf. I could hardly sleep because I wanted to give it to her so bad, and tell her all about it on the phone. I think I was 8. My gramma was so impressed, she left me with a whole box of sewing things, and I went crazy all summer! I was like the little elves and the shoemaker. Gramma went to sleep, and I went to work! LOL!
Thank you so much for all you do for plushies :) I love you for it! And thanks for letting me be in Plush You :)
my friend bre was having a bad time at work, so i thought i would make something to cheer her up. i was crocheting hats and scarves, but i had seen some amigurumis online. now, i had about 3 glasses of wine -before- i sat down to work, and maybe 1 or 2 more while i worked, but i made the most lop-sided and demented and happy and personable little bunny rabbit you ever seen. it's still one of my favorite things i've made ;p i had so much fun doing it that now, about 2 years later, i've quit working full time so i can focus more on making little demented and happy and crazy amigurumis. and reading plush blogs. hehehehe
My first plush was about 6 years ago. My friend was making litle bunnies and sock-plushies, and I wanted to try it out.
I made a basic little bear-like thing out of some remnant yellow fleece and painted on eyes and a belly with fabric paint (my first and probably last venture with that stuff). I called him Boo.
I either sold him or gave him away. I hope he's doing well. :D
